Honda's North Carolina Manufacturing facility is at the forefront of powersports and power equipment innovation, blending state-of-the-art engineering with a strong commitment to sustainability. North Carolina Manufacturing is the exclusive manufacturing facility for Honda ATVs in North America and will also serve as the first Honda production facility in the North American region to manufacture future electrified Honda powersports and power equipment products.

1980s

Honda breaks ground in Swepsonville for Honda Power Equipment Mfg. (HPE), a 60,000 square-foot plant and the first Honda company unit out of Japan to manufacture power equipment.

Production of the first lawnmowers to be manufacturing in the United States begins on August 6, at Honda Power Equipment, Mfg., in Alamance County, N.C.

NCM started production of the GXV140 engines.

1980s

1990s

The first Harmony Riding Mower rolled off the assembly line.

Honda North Carolina Manufacturing associates begin assembly of water pumps.

Honda North Carolina associates celebrate mass production of the GXV160.

Honda North Carolina associates celebrate producing 1 million lawn mowers since 1984.

NCM began producing the GXV340/GXV390 engines for riding mowers and lawn tractors.

Production of the Harmony II Series with 97% US part contents began.

Snow thrower production begins at Honda North Carolina Manufacturing.

1990s

2000s

Honda North Carolina Mfg. completes expansion in die cast and machining which makes way for the GC/GCV160 engine.

String trimmer and brush cutters production begans at Honda North Carolina Manufacturing.

Honda introduces the HRX series lawn mower.

Production of mini tillers begans at Honda North Carolina Manufacturing.

Honda Power Equipment, Mfg. produces its 20 millionth unit on October 28.

2000s

2010s

Honda Power Equipment Mfg. celebrates 30 years of production with a $8.5 million capital investment to support the addition of new product lines.

NCM started production of the 2-stage snow blower.

Started production of the first US made Honda generator.

On August 6, Associates at Honda Power Equipment Mfg., Inc. (HPE) marked 35 years of producing power equipment products in America by announcing a $46.4 million investment to expand the Swepsonville, N.C. plant's manufacturing capabilities.

2010s

2020s

In July 2023, associates at Honda North Carolina Manufacturing (NCM) welcomed a new model to the production lineup. A first for the longtime power equipment facility, a FourTrax Rancher all-terrain vehicle (ATV) rolled off the assembly line, launching a new powersports era in North Carolina.

Honda celebrates 40 Years of Production in North Carolina with investment in ATV production and plans to build electrified products.
